Ongoing
debates relate to different topics, but they all stem from a common aspect:
a lack of professional ethics, a lack of morals, which many often mistake
for moralism.
The scandal caused by pharmaceutical industries’ sponsorship is very similar
to the Tangentopoli (the Italian Bribesville) scandal, and recalls all the
twilight effects of that period; so we wonder why a practice that had represented
the “standard procedure” ever since the post-war period, which used to be
the “general rule” everyone knew about, has now become a crime. …………………
Why was the American intervention during the last world war, with the atomic
bomb, hailed as providential and the soldiers welcome as rescuers and victors?
Is Saddam cleverer or less sanguinary than Hitler? Did the inhabitants of
Hiroshima deserve to be sacrificed more than the Iraqis? …………………
When the Pope talks about abortion, family protection or divorce, why is he
said to interfere with the Italian state, whereas, now that he is talking
about peace (a key issue for Catholics, by the way), he is exploited in a
demagogic pacifist campaign against the United States? ……………….
The answers have all been left out: there are people who like things to be
this way; these masters in the art of demagogy know how to play the three-card
trick and they are sure to be standing by the winners at the end of the war.
………………...
This is the one and only thing we have no doubts about.
