A prevailing theme in the contemporary literary output is represented by a pseudohistoric genre which relates, with a wealth of details, the origins of the universe, including the Earth of course.
Some authors, backed by archaeological findings analysed by experts, claim that the Earth has been inhabited by Aliens.
Alien is synonymous with extraterrestrial, but it also is the semantic root for alienated, that is insane, in line with Hegel’s acceptation of alienation used to describe a specific psychological condition of modern people who, as a result of their feeling unconnected to their productive activity, are said to experience a personality split.
This is why there has been a significant growth in the number of books which no longer simply suggest, but confirm the presence of an ever increasing number of Aliens within our society.
We are quite free not to believe this, but if (as the say) Aliens have actually come back, how can we identify them?

There must be something true about all this, because more and more frequently we happen to listen to alienating conversations, the survival of humanity appears to be put at stake by the destructive insanity of single individuals, the worth of human life appears to be dropping more and more, and psychologists’ support has become a mass vital requirement at all levels and ages.
It looks as if they are also fighting each other to conquer the Earth, or is this science fiction?
If we take a look round with a modicum of attention, we cannot but wonder: whilst it is difficult to identify Aliens, at this stage it is even more difficult to identify the Terrestrials who continue to inhabit our planet!

While we were preparing the leading article for the journal, ready for publishing, we received the news of the Chechen terrorist attack in Moscow. Seven hundred lives at stake: whatever the outcome, there will certainly be casualties, injured or dead.
Any comment would be superfluous: words cannot provide a suitable commentary to such events; no purpose, whether patriotic or of any other nature, can justify actions which can only be accomplished by what I would indeed call Aliens or alienated people !
