Curriculum Vitae AVIGDOR ZELIKOWSKI

Avigdor Zelikovski was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel in 1942. He was student of Medicine at the University of Siena from 1962-1965, obtaining his degree in Medicine at the Tel-Aviv University in 1969, the qualification as General Surgeon in 1976 at the Beilinson Medical Center, Petah Tiqva, Israel, accomplishing further studies at the Tel-Aviv Sackler School of Medicine in 1977 and as Clinical Research Fellow at the Tufts University Medical School, Massachusetts, U.S.A. in 1981.
Academic experience at the Tel-Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine in Surgery: 1973-6 as Instructor and Lecturer; 1980 as Senior Lecturer; 1988 as Clinical Associate Professor and since 2000 as Clinical Professor.
His Clinical Experience in Israel: At Kupat Holim Le’Umit, Eliat, 1970-1 as General Practitioner. At the Beilinson Medical Center, 1968-69, Internship. - 1971-6, Specialization in General Surgery. - 1975, Basic Sciences, Immunology.
Since 1986, Head, in the Vascular Unit. He is Chairman of Surgery at the Rabin Medical Center, Petah Tiqva since January 1997 and member of the following associations: Fellow of Scientific Council of the International College of Angiology (1974) and of the Society of Lymphology (1981) as well as the International Colleges of Angiology (1985) and of Cardiovascular Surgery (1985), The European Group of Lymphology (1995) and Co-Editor of the Journal of Phlebology.
He has been an active participant in numerous international scientific meetings since 1973 in Israel, Canada, England, Finland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Australia.
He is also author of a large number of scientific publications such as original articles, abstracts presented at scientific meetings and chapters in the Year Books of Orthopedic and Traumatic Surgery (1974), Vascular Surgery (1986 and 1987) and also involved in the invention of various devices both for the treatment of lymphatic and venous disorders and the improvement of blood circulation in sedentary situations and prevention of DVT (Economy Class syndrome).
