In quest’articolo, tralasceremo il passato storico della chirurgia del Cheratocono e punteremo la nostra attenzione su una disamina delle attuali tecniche.
La cornea, porzione trasparente anteriore dell’occhio che ricopre iride, pupilla e camera anteriore, è costituita da 5 strati: epitelio, membrana di Bowman, stroma, membrana di Descemet, endotelio. L’endotelio è un tessuto che riveste le superfici interne di vari organi, come ad esempio i vasi ed appunto la cornea, regolandone il contenuto in acqua e consentendo all’organo una giusta idratazione.In this article, we shall skip the historical past of keratoconus surgery and focus our attention on an examination of current techniques. The cornea, the anterior transparent portion of the eye that covers the iris, pupil and anterior chamber, is made up of 5 layers: epithelium, Bowman’s membrane, stroma, Descemet’s membrane and endothelium. The endothelium is a tissue that coats the inner surfaces of various organs, as for example vessels and indeed the cornea, regulating its water content and leading proper hydration of the organ.
