CURRICULUM
Mauro Porta is the chief neurologist at the Operational Unit of
the San Marco di Zingonia general hospital in Bergamo.
Has successfully achieved specializations in the discipline of Nervous
Diseases and Neurosurgery, for many years effecting clinical and research
activities at the “Ospedale Maggiore” and “Istituto Mario Negri” in Milan.
He transferred first to the United States and then to Paris, working at
the “ Salpétrière” for a long period.
This allowed him to come into contact with major experts in several fields,
in particular to do with movement disturbances including tics, which precisely
at the “Salpétrière” were already being studied at the time of the renowned
neurologist Charcot.
His activities are reflected in about 200 scientific papers, including
a volume dedicated to tics and published by “Guerini e Ass. (Milano)”.
Is Vice-President of the ‘Associazione Italiana Sindrome de la Tourette
e Disturbi Correlati’ (A.I.S.T.: Italian association for Tourette Syndrome
and correlated disorders).
