As mentioned in issue No. 3, 2005, we are directly in contact with the people in charge of health facilities in Burkina Faso to obtain reliable scientific information, which is not filtered by faction-based interests, which are often also speculative.
We shall collaborate with them to focus on factors, which are not based on the personal feelings and assessments of individuals.
A direct on site study of the current situation is useful to realize whether we can alter de facto situations with radical interventions organized through projects, which envisage the complete participation of institutions in implementing, planning, establishing priorities and assessing structural interventions to be carried out.
This can be implemented by removing patterns applied to date, which have given no serious decisive results.
Moving away from traditional charity patterns involves making use of the latest techniques available in industrialized nations to alter situations in which the population has lived for years.
You will notice that this issue’s scientific section has been translated into three languages as we mean to send physicians operating in the Burkina Faso territory a copy of the magazine to inform and update them concerning a serious disease directly treated by their experts.
We invite physicians and others operating in the health sector to send us their suggestions.
We thank Dr. Zombré, General Manager of the National Health Service, Dr. Sanou and Dr. Tiendrébéogo for the scientifically documented article on such a disabling disease. As per agreements this collaboration will certainly not come to a close with the publication of a single article, but it will continue in time in a profitable exchange of information and training focused on the health sector.
