Stefano Bonacina is a lecturer in Medical Informatics
and a Research Assistant at Biomedical Engineering
at the Politecnico di Milano. He received the Laurea
Degree in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnico
di Milano, Italy, in the year 2000. He received Ph.D.
Degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Politecnico
di Milano, Italy, in the year 2004. Since may 2004,
he is a Research Assistant and his research interests
are Health Information System for Clinical and Bio-Medical
Research, Medical Informatics, Telemedicine, and Digital
Human Anatomy. His PhD research area focused on the
Visible Human Dataset. Title of his dissertation is
"VHD/HistoColor. A web accessible Visible Human
Dataset meta-database as an intermediate interactive
manageable tool for a deeper understanding of anatomical
structure detection algorithm performances".
His research activities focus is in the field of medical
data bases, repositories of bio-images and bio-signals,
integration of clinical examination texts with their
images, the distributed electronic patient record
and its users, infrastructures for clinical guidelines
set-up and delivery.
He is the main author or co-author of some scientific
publications such as chapters in books and conference
proceeding contributes and gave oral presentations
of his work in the most important international and
national meetings concerning the Bio-Medical Informatics
and Telemedicine fields.
He is also the coauthor, of the textbook "Elementi
di Informatica Biomedica" targeted for bioengineering
and medicine students, under the supervision of professors
Francesco Pinciroli and Marco Masseroli.
