Experimental teaching.
Over the years, a problem-solving teaching method
with a strong interactive connotation has been devised
for the students of the Faculty of Medicine, based
on small working groups, and aimed at the acquisition
of abilities as well as specific knowledge in the
field of psychiatric competence for the general practitioner.
Thus, specific material has been designed for such
a project, which has been favourably welcomed by students
and experts of the University of Milan.
Since 1970s, special attention has been paid to the
training of students who choose psychiatry as their
graduation subject, so that they can reach the necessary
experimental experience for their postgraduation clinical
and research activity. As for postgraduate schools,
again the teaching has always been based on experimental
and interactive teaching modes.
Update teaching. Since 1988, refresher courses and
permanent training courses in Psychopharmacology have
been organised both for general practitioners and
psychiatrists in Lombardia and all over Italy.
Between 1990 and 1993, residential courses for psychiatrists
from all over the country have been organised in association
with the Chairs of Psychiatry of the Universities
of Rome, Pisa, and Genoa (Psichiatria 90).
Since 1994, one-week residential courses for 25 participants
have been organised at the Clinic twice a year, with
the aim of improving students' knowledge in clinical
psychopharmacology through both theoretical seminar
and practical-clinical activities.
