CURRICULUM

Professor Tommaso Claudio Mineo was born in 1945.
He graduated from the “La Sapienza” University Medical School of Rome in 1969.
He specialised in General Surgery in 1974 and in Cardiovascular Surgery in 1977 at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome.
Between 1970-1975 he was Research Fellow at the Clinique de Chirurgie Thoracique et Cardiovasculaire at the Hôpital Laennec in Paris and at the Thorax Kliniken of the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm. In the same period he was Fellow in Thoracic Surgery at the Clinique de Chirurgie Toracique et Cardiovsculaire Hopital Universitaire de Geneve.
In 1982 he became Associated Professor in Thoracic Surgery at the “La Sapienza” University in Rome.
He is Professor of Thoracic Surgery and Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department at the Tor Vergata University in Rome since 1994, Chairman of the Postgraduate Course in Thoracic Surgery since 1992 and Chairman of the Research Fellowship in Thoracic Oncology at the Tor Vergata University in Rome since 1996. Since 1999 he is Chairman of the Surgery Department of the Tor Vergata University in Rome. He is a member of several National and International Scientific Societies. Professor Mineo is involved in all fields of Thoracic Surgery, and especially in emphysema, mediastinal and esophageal diseases. He is the author of more than 300 publications for Italian and English-language journals.
